Help the Stamford Family YMCA build confidence in young children who have a fear of the water and drowning. Help us purchase a swim training platform.
The Story: Patrick started swimming at our Y three years ago. He comes from a family of swimmers. Patrick has been taking his time learning skills due to his fear of not being able to touch the bottom of the pool. A fear that is all too common in children. Not being able to grasp the space between ground and feet, children worry they will drown and take longer to build up the confidence to swim. The Y’s pool starts at 3 feet 8 inches (shallow end) just above the average height of a seven year old. Our swim programs begin at the age of 3 years old without a parent in the water with them. New and updated facilities have a zero entry pool that benefit the younger swimmers.
Our goal is to help build confidence in children and make each child a strong swimmer by overcoming fear and teach them the fun sport of swimming along with the importance of water safety.
Children will be able to accomplish this task fast, safer and confidently with the assistance of the in-water deck.
A Swim Training Platform is an excellent training aid which helps toddlers and beginning swimmers feel at ease and secure in the water. Help build their confidence so they can stand in the water – give a true sense of courage as they learn to swim.
A portable platform such as this can even be used for aquatic exercises and therapy or even as a seat for older adults to rest during water fitness.
Cost to purchase a swim training platform to help build confidence in young children who have a fear of the water and drowning: $1,100
